Au revoir
Wednesday, July 20th, 2005Extracted from email…
Sometimes in life’s journey, we reach a fork on the road and have to decide to take one path… some may choose to talk a road that’s bright and full of road maps while other may choose the path less traveled. Today, as I’m taking the path less traveled; I look back and trace my footsteps taken in reaching this juncture, I see many beautiful people who have left their marks in my life and have taught me many a things that I’ll never forget.
I still remember my first day driving to SS2 to look for Chemopharm, and wait in anticipation for my interview with Mok. Sitting in Mr Kong’s room last week brought back memories of our conversation in Kong’s room… I thought I was looking at pictures of her children. And during my second interview before Mr Ooi decided to hire me (*Phew*!) I sat waiting in the sofa outside his room, and remember seeing some of the staffs (Joan, Julie) coming around to ‘peep’ at the new girl that will join Chemopharm.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank many individuals who have aided my growth here – most importantly to my immediate “boss” Mok, for encouraging my to do my best in every challenge that comes my way, to “big boss” Mr CA Ooi for giving me opportunities to learn new things and to think out of the box! Also to my friends and team-mates at Medical dept: May for being the supportive back bone whenever anything happens (to our orders or customer’s last minute requests!) , Darren for being the ‘big brother’ of the team and his usual antics at work, Siew Fun for all the help in our projects (HbA1c, EQAS) & our PC problems, Vanitha for entertaining all my customer’s sometimes small & troublesome requests, Jason for helping us see the light in microscopes and allowing us to call u ‘SMITH’, Mark for constantly emailing & calling me to get my job done & finally Sean for being so patient with me during the product training.
No man (or woman) is an island… and somehow I’ve always had the opportunity to work together with other people besides Medical. To the service team (Wong, Loh, Peter, Lim in Penang, Jeffrey, Jason, Uncle Lai, Deric, Tan, Foo & James) I would like to express my gratitude for your patience in entertaining my request for customer’s repair or PPM and also menial jobs like carrying the D10 at times. I know I’m big sized and look strong – but even I cannot carry the Variant alone!
To the people on the 2nd floor ( Ms Ng, Phooi Har, Nanie, Grace, Eddie, Jane, Ms Lim, Maxi, Ms Yee, Uncle Teoh, Uncle Vythi, Pauline, Ms Lai, Fen Fen, Nellie) I hope I didn’t miss out any names… without you all, my customer non-medical quotation will not be completed, DO & invoice to bill customer so that I’ll get my $$ at the end of it, and also for the lunches that we take together when I’m in the office.
Now, for those one floor above ground level: To the secretaries (Chris, AN & AT) - I know that I tend to make very last minutes booking (either tickets or trip or LCD projector), but appreciate your help to get things done all the same. Petrina, thanks for giving prompt messages and screening calls when necessary. To the analytical sales team & support, marketing, Chemoscience & EI Engineering (Mr Kong, Robin, Mr TT Lim, Joan, David, Julie, Amie, Jacklyn, Cindy, Alice, Mike, NST, Bee Kee, Jack Wang, Astley, Fanny, George, Eva, Hooi, Tony, Soo, Li Nah, Ann, Eric, Angelica, CTee, Mei June) I’ve enjoyed the times we get to meet either at exhibitions, pipetman clinics, etc and it was good to learn and share among each other. I hope that you will still support medical dept in some of the items like the BioProfile (for fermentation & cell culture) or other non-analytical items that your customer may need in future.
To kawan-kawan in the Puchong store : I know that I’ m very bossy at times and always go by the store to get my equipments : Mr Kok, Balan, Aziz, Azhar, Azmi, Kumar & Marga , thank you for the support given in delivery and packing as well =D
Of course, not forgetting Penang team (Jack Ooi, Lim, Mark) – I’ve enjoyed all the food & hospitality from Pearl of the Orient. If I’m visiting Penang next time, I hope you will still bring me out to makan, ok?!
I suppose when I was dabbling in Sports Club, I may have hurt some feelings, and do crazy unconventional things, but I hope that you all have enjoyed the activities (kudos to those who went for my aerobics – it gave me inspiration to keep fit at that time!) that the Sports Club have done & the not so healthy nasi lemaks that we used to serve. Thank you committees for trusting me when we did the opening dance during last year’s Annual Dinner - I will never forget our trampling and practice session in the small Cititel Hotel room!
KISS – Keeping it Short & sweet, many many thanks to all of you – for all that you’ve done (although it may not be mentioned) & for your patience and understanding shown to me. I have enjoyed the last 4 years at Chemopharm and I wish all of you the best in your future endeavors and although I may not be clocking in at 8.30 am anymore, I hope that we will remain friends and keep in touch.
* Last day of work-today: 21st July 2005, & it’s only half day … (but i’m still here!)*
