HAZE! I’m dazed!

Thursday, August 11th, 2005

According to news & radio announcement, Kuala Selangor (where my grandparents & relatives stays) & Port Klang has been declared as emergency. Schools, kindergarten & govt institutions will be closed… due to the API (Air Pollution Index???) > 500.

I also heard that if API for any areas > 300, the schools (especially because children are more exposed to the allergens/dust/pollution in the air) are advised to close!

Personal advise to anyone who needs to travel around (for work, for leisure, etc), please think of the following precaution measures you can take to be in good health:

1) Wear a mask , preferably the ones with higher HEPA filters that looks like industrial mask & very difficult to breath. (Think the SARS virus situation) But then, i heard that stocks of mask are very low, if couldnt get any, use handkerchief, or modify your scarf/bandana/cotton cloth…use your imagination!

2) Drink plenty of fluids, take fruits or Vitamin C. This to boost the immune system against possible air-borne respiratory diseases like cough, flu, sinus reaction, etc.

3) If possible, avoid going outdoor unless necessaary. Once exposed, clean up affected areas like face(wash eyes), hands, skin, etc. If your eyes are sensitive, wash with water before placing eyedrops to maintain moisture.

4) Cannot think of any other ideas!

Anyway, whatever it is…this are some tips I heard from my friends, please do not treat this as absolute advise (remember to take everything with a pinch of salt =D )

Ciao & have a good weekend ahead!

Off to Melaka! & back home again!

Going off to Melaka for a short holiday with Clyde… (2 day 1 night)

It’s part of the Mix FM PAndora Box that i won earlier this year but didnt get a chance to use it! Gonna go there & makan Makan makan! (@Equatorial Malacca) Hope the foods good!

=D

May do some shopping too, as its sales everywhere! But so broke after diving trip & i’m supposedly unemployed!

I’m back in Subang!

Well, back in Subang again-got more pictures & stories of my Malaccan trip with Clyde but didnt have time to upload those pics from phone to comp yet! This trip was all makan, makan & more makan.

Got into Equatorial @ 7.45pm as was abit sesat & couldnt find Bandar Hilir. Then proceeded to have our "FOC" dinner @ Seri nyonya Peranakan Restaurant. Go to eat ~RM 100 for just the 2 of us! Eat until pants almost burst! Toke the chance to walk around Equatorial after dinner but decided to make a short trip as was afraid to go too far!

Met up with Logan, Jacky & Jonathan (from MMU diving trip) & their diving frens, @ a cafe called FRIENDS Cafe for supper/drinks. As usual, talk diving & otehr rubbish! They got Clyde & me interested to join them during their next trip eitehr for their semester break or to Sipadan next year after they finish their FINALS. heheh =D As long as its a cheap trip (Students- sure cheaper than normal!)  The ‘party’ ended about 1am…and they have class the next day too!

Slept, had buffet breakfast (on the house as it was included in our room package), then decided to walk off the calories by literally walking to Jonker Street - got all my gifts for the upcoming (Toastmasters) Area C3 Humorous speech & Evaluation Speech Contest! Also took chance to eat homemade M’can cendol, the gula melaka was divine!

Then walked back to Equatorial, checked out & had a late lunch in Golden Phoenix Chinese Rest, only 2 tables being served ! (Suppose it must be pretty quiet on weekdays!) Also ate ~RM100, so bloated & decided to walk-walk / shopping in Mahkota Parade. Didnt buy anything lor!

Drove back about 4 pm, gotback to Subang @ 6.30pm…slept thru the journey! (As usual if i’m not the driver)

All in all, it was a good trip. Look out for inserted photos the next time i edit my blog! It feels good to be on a holiday (more so, if it was FOC!) Must start joining more competitions, to win more prizes -so KIASU!

Back from Dayang…

I’m BACK (from Dayang Island)!

Missed Clyde, missed my birthday…but the fun during my diving trip in Dayang was great & guess what… Clyde ‘komplot’ with his instructor-Nizam to celebrate my b’day on the island! *Thanks dar!* *Hugs & Kisses 4 U*

It was a stressful & busy week before leaving for my dive trip last sunday(31st July). Has a full week of travelling back to the office for unfinished business(especially the claims =D  ) although my last official working day minus the annual leave was on 22nd July & also travelling around to schools to collect the Free PMR & SPM Seminar organised by Ti-Ratana Community Centre…Finally the PMR seminar is OVER, now its just the SPM seminar on 28th August! So ’stress’ until wanna naik gila!?!!

Felt a wave of relief after the PMR semianr on 31st july’s morning-then Clyde drove me over to Nizam (his instructor’s house) & there we (Nizam, Aidid & myself) travelled all the way to Mersing. Slept almost the whole way except for toilet breaks & buying snacks in rest stop & Kluang town…so tired, was burnign midnight oil until 3am on Saturday morning (30th) to complete the f**king student’s list.  (Advice from Clyde today: Delegate the forms to other ppl to help type it, will do that or else suffer on my own)

Picture4 Picture of the jetty before leaving Mersing via speedboat to our ‘little’ ferry boat out in the open sea (Tide has gone down, that’s why?!) Time : about 6.45pm.   If you look closely-you may see some boys jumping off their own fishing boats for their evening swims (in underwear only =D ) But that’s in the background so pretty dark to notice!

Took the boat to Dayang Island @6 plus pm, & reached around midnight-clambered onto the bed..didnt even shower-too tired & vomitted part of my McD’s burger during the first 30 minutes of the boat ride *thankfully nobody saw*

Next morning-changed into my swinsuit & got all ready to dive, dive, dive & dive. Most of the dives were uneventful-saw the usual coral fishes (clown fish/anemone/NEMO, batfish, angelfishes, butterfly fish, starfish, parrotfish, goat fish, etc)… but u know what…so leceh to dive with ‘young boys’; They just cannot make up their mind. So many times after ‘giant stride’ into the water’s surface, or even midway in the dive-have to have a forum/discussion on which direction to go, what depth again, etc. First time in a group where forums are so common & often. =D

Had a few incidents Eg1: @ Rayner’s Rock was buddied with Jonathan & almost couldn’t descend-had to kick & kcik to reach deeper as there was current-so tiring. Luckily that dive saw some good things puffers, bumphead parrotfish & some nudibranches.  Eg 2: @ first night dive of the trip on Monday night-so kelam kabut, after getting into water, strong surface current, then Jonathan’s sausage came apart, then jelly fish stings as we waited at the buoy’s rope, descended & aborted dive after 10 mins & 6 m, current too strong… while ascending i almost lost weight belt..*Phew* what a night dive-So scared to do second one on Day 2(actually lazy lar) Finally did night day on Day 3 & Day 4 - had to change batteries for torch as during Day 3’s night dive-torch burned out! Had to follow buddy like ’super glue!’ =D

Picture6_1 Picture7_1                       1st pic via my phone on the serenity of the Dayang beach & partial view of the jetty, Then me trying to catch my own face & the sea (also thru phone) - see the exasperated look as we r leaving the island already, so tired & i think i got hit by "decompresion sickness"

Other than that, got many chance to swim amongst schools of fusilier & juvenile barracudas (1st time) the experience was awesome! The schools will just circle & circle & circle the divers! Also saw usual turtles (both the green turtles & one hawksbill) at Lang Island during dive, many species of nudibranchs (also batches of mating nudis), went to look at mini cleaner shrimps on top of soft corals & also sea cucumbers, small & large puffers as well as the cute yellow boxfish(imagine looking at a cute yellow Kelisa on the road), many many sting & whiprays @ Captain’s Point… *Phew* The list can go on & on & on.

On the last day(thursday) did 5 dives-marathon, & finally finished 15 dives in this trip! (My intention was 12 to hit my target of total 50 dives so far!) Good trip, good fellow buddies (Jacky, Logan, Jonathan) as well as other certified ‘Advanced divers’ met along the way (Ong, Toh, Irsyad, Zeehin, Seng Chao, Andry, Awie,Patrick, Ahmad, 3 sekawan : Jo, Haris & Semat)

Great way to have a holiday! he he he & probably can’t wait for another dive trip soon!Picture5_1

Picture8                        Picture10_2  Pics of some ppl on this trip & Nizam taking ‘mugshots of the students!

p/s : had my usual jellyfish sting & sunburn & bed bugs attack-so went to get medicine from doc today! Picture11 No u/w photos to show-no underwater camera lar! =D

Picture of my ’scorched back’ that some say it looks like tattoo. Got burned as i fell asleep on the boat on our way back to Mersing & didnt apply the sunblock evenly.    =D hahahahehehehaha
