Mrs T…

Thursday, December 1st, 2005

Well, the day has finally come & gone, it’s been little over 3 days that I’m officially married & can be known as Mrs Thein…but u can still call me Shel! =D Had my colleagues calling me Mrs at the office to rub in more salt…not saying that there was any wound in the 1st place   =D   hehe..,Dscf2413

Those that attended the ceremony in Wisma Sri Dhamma, Brickfields Maha Vihara will surely remember our ‘educative’ Registrar Officer (Patrick Chan, i believe that was his name) that gave everyone attending the lectureOOPS, i mean civil marriage ceremony about the DOs & DoNTs of such ceremonies & the important notification to friends, colleagues & acquantances of the bride & groom (which was CLyde & I) that we are now officially & legally married… and shall thus be known as Mr and Mrs Thein forever & ever until death do us part! Dscf2443    U will probably agree with me when I say that it was indeed an educational moment for all attending, but I couldn’t wait for the moment to say YES,I DO , u may now KISS THE BRIDE, and finally walking down the ‘aisle’ (or between rows of chairs) to confettis of rose petals! P/s : I think this is the 1st time any registrar officer took more than 30 minutes to finish the ceremony!?! I can still imagine the people’s facial expression when taking photographs of us through-out the ceremony, (eg : Eugene, Fa, Pei Yee) - so COMICAL, all of them looked so bored & wishing for the guy to cut the chase & finish the lines!

After the civil marriage ceremony, there was blessing by a monk in the Shrine Hall where we all sat for 5 minutes to recite our Precepts & received blessings in forms of water & holy strings. Dscf2509

It was also a great idea to have dana for the monks’ lunch on that day, haven’t done a dana for a long time & didnt realise so much blessing involved in doing dana. At the end, it felt like a truly "BLESSED DAY" because there were one blessing ceremony after another and another and another… We also seeked Chief Reverend’s blessing before proceeding with the dana & he even commented…U 2 very BIG ah?!   (Thanks to Eugene’s & Li Li’s suggestion! Thanks guys for arranging all the catering, hall, etc!) We had vegetarian lunch for all guest as well, & golly the food was finished by the time we had to return the hall! (after packing of the left-overs by Wai Yee, my parents, my in-laws, etc)

Anyways, filtering thru some of the pictures & video shots of the day… still improvising & updating them on the website…please have patience & do contact me if u r interested to have a look! =D I suppose will finish that by this weekend!

All in all, it was a great moment, not just for the 2 of us united in marriage, but for the rest of our families  (THEINs & CHEWs) & all attending it! The only moment when i got a little emotional (& teary-eyed) was when walking down the ‘aisle’ as our friends threw confetti…Dscf2507

It’s great being MARRIED!
