An act 2 remember
Saturday, April 22nd, 2006Had the opportunity to witness a friend & his emsemble perform Habeas Corpus last week…it was a Thursday & the next day was a working day *SIGH* so sleepy when i drove to the office.
I disgress.
Back to Habeas (I dont even know how to pronounce it properly) Baki has been rehearsing really hard for the show @ or about the same time he’s working with the kindie (BTW, he’s no longer @ kindie) , sacrificing every weekend, & we all promised him we’ll be watching his theatre act-no matter what! Thankfully, we got in to watch as invited guests.
so kiam siap-dont even wanna pay $$, but say wanna support the friend!
Word of caution, never have any expectations when u go for this types of things, or even when watching a movie, listening to songs, etc… Fa & i was exchanging words of caution to each other as we waited for the doors to open : what’s the story line?, how long will the show take? what’s baki role like? how ugly will he look? & that sorts…
It was interesting, but i found out i’m not made for theatre - i simply don’t know how to appreciate it.
(p/s to Baki : I know we’re suppose to be buddy-buddy while waiting for Amazing Race Asia interview, but u know the 2 of us r total opposites like North Pole & South Pole, ain’t it??!)
Of course, we laughed when we thought it was funny, and at de end of de show - gave flowers to the DIVA aka Baki. I tried really hard to absorb as much of the punch lines/British English but it was rather difficult (esp when the brain is about to hibernate & the stomach is calling S.O.S!) And, he looked really UGLY!
Hubby enjoyed himself quite abit, the stage ppl could hear him laugh…rather LOUDLY! (so, baki reports to us during mamak session)
If u’re thinking of watching it, I would say GO! It’s an interesting British comedy, myriads of talented casts & funny enough… to entertain after a long day @work. The show’s still on @ Actors Studio Bangsar til the 28th, and I wont spoil by telling so much about the show-but just wanna share some pics i took!
p/s 2: NST had a small column to review the show last Sunday. "quote" WARNING to viewers of habeas corpus : Watch it only if u think ur life is confusing! "unquote" i didnt say that…i only suggest to watch it bcos its a british comedy, there r many interesting characters & it a fun thing to watch - also support my fren la! =D
*It’s Labour’s Day holiday next weekend & soon it’ll be middle of 2006- i feel old & time just blinks blinks by!* wat will u be doing? i’m in penang la!
