An act 2 remember

Saturday, April 22nd, 2006

Had the opportunity to witness a friend & his emsemble perform Habeas Corpus last week…it was a Thursday & the next day was a working day *SIGH* so sleepy when i drove to the office.

I disgress.

Back to Habeas (I dont even know how to pronounce it properly) Baki has been rehearsing really hard for the show @ or about the same time he’s working with the kindie (BTW, he’s no longer @ kindie) , sacrificing every weekend, & we all promised him we’ll be watching his theatre act-no matter what! Thankfully, we got in to watch as invited guests.Imga0562 Imga0561 Imga0567 Imga0566

so kiam siap-dont even wanna pay $$, but say wanna support the friend!

Word of caution, never have any expectations when u go for this types of things, or even when watching a movie, listening to songs, etc… Fa & i was exchanging words of caution to each other as we waited for the doors to open : what’s the  story line?, how long will the show take? what’s baki role like? how ugly will he look? & that sorts…

It was interesting, but i found out i’m not made for theatre - i simply don’t know how to appreciate it.

(p/s to Baki : I know we’re suppose to be buddy-buddy while waiting for Amazing Race Asia interview, but u know the 2 of us r total opposites like North Pole & South Pole, ain’t it??!)

Of course, we laughed when we thought it was funny, and at de end of de show - gave flowers to the DIVA aka Baki.  I tried really hard to absorb as much of the punch lines/British English but it was rather difficult (esp when the brain is about to hibernate & the stomach is calling S.O.S!) And, he looked really UGLY!Imga0571

Hubby enjoyed himself quite abit, the stage ppl could hear him laugh…rather LOUDLY!   Imga0577 (so, baki reports to us during mamak session)

If u’re thinking of watching it, I would say GO! It’s an interesting British comedy, myriads of talented casts & funny enough… to entertain after a long day @work. The show’s still on @ Actors Studio Bangsar til the 28th, and I wont spoil by telling so much about the show-but just wanna share some pics i took!Imga0568_1

p/s 2: NST had a small column to review the show last Sunday. "quote" WARNING to viewers of habeas corpus : Watch it only if u think ur life is confusing! "unquote" i didnt say that…i only suggest to watch it bcos its a british comedy, there r many interesting characters & it a fun thing to watch - also support my fren la! =D

*It’s Labour’s Day holiday next weekend & soon it’ll be middle of 2006- i feel old & time just blinks blinks by!*                   wat will u be doing? i’m in penang la!

Life cycle…

Many things have happened over the past few days…at work & at home.

My boss was saying that i should move up the efforts to get a replacement sales person & i think i found a girl who’s suitable- green but ever willing to learn & have the strive to chase the BUCKS. Then there’s the part where he told another colleague to buck up or leave… (that’s the 2nd time its happened) Does that make him a bad boss? I dont think so, bcos if i were at his shoes- i might have booted the person sometime ago…

Then we had our review meeting, and it turned out well - but in my mind i know there’s so much more i have to do & to be an example for my colleagues! I know i can do it, i have to! I only hope that others can see the direction or the light at the end of the tunnel too!

Grandma’s been ill again. She fell down & had to take 2 stiches on the back of her head. The doc said that it has metastised to other parts of the body, as the cells looked irregular.  Then she came to UM for another check-up & they verified with X-ray of the stomach, little white dots of unknown materials - probably that’s why she’s been constipated & having stomachaches. She’s lost so much weight, she’s only half of what i weigh =(

Then last night, mom & 2nd uncle admitted grandma into UMMC - so that last aunt can rest (coughing for several days) and easier for mom to care for her wound. It was mom’s birthday & we were supposed to celebrate but i think it was good to have spent the time at UMMC with mom & grandma. The UMMC staffs will be cleaning the dressing & mom will be keeping watch this few days.  Cousin getting married this Sunday & he was worried shit about grandma…nothing we can do, just to accompany her at the hospital, clean the wounds & make sure she gets enough nutrition… Grandma hates drinking plain water too, could have contributed to the constipation, so mom’s been boiling barley for her today & some other drinks over the enxt few days.

The worldImga0355 will turn & turn whether we like it or not, and things will come & they’ll go. Gotta be strong…

Redang Escapade

Sunday, April 9th, 2006

Finally got some time off from work for a short holiday/escapade with hubby & his colleagues… spent 3D2N at Redang Reef for a special promo price-only RM260 (not including flight)

Heck – at the LCC waiting for KT flight, met up with old school senior- Dennis who’s attached at KT GH as dentist…now when I’m in that part of the world can call ppl out for makan or jalan jalan.

Imga0483_1 Our group of 9 very different personalities took off positively at the LCC – them forgetting to pick up their boarding passes after check-in & almost not flying to KT ~this is probably the funniest thing to ever happen to anyone flying, and I still don’t believe how I could keep a poker face the whole time with them.~ and the fisherman’s daughter who didn’t take a ‘sea-sick pill’ on our boat ride to redang –and definitely feeling sea-sick during the ride… other weird things that happened was the boat dying off 3 time while we were at sea – needed some refuel or change of engine ~WHO CAN BEAT THAT!

For the RM260 paid, it was a rewarding deal – the food was good, the room was clean & the air conditioning was really COLD! We even went for a beach disco the night before heading home at Redang Beach Resort. Our resort was perched on a hill of rocks of sorts, and we share the same portion of the island as the acclaimed 5-star Laguna hotel & the laid-back party-time Redang Beach. Imga0499_1 Didn’t Imga0500_1 take too many pics-just decided to rest, rest & lepak –which felt really good –almost like our HONEYMOON trip =D

Besides snorkeling, hubby & I decided to take a dive at their home reef – it was a relaxing dive but the dive gears was not exactly up to our standards with leaking tubes/gauges & defunct depth gauge. Decided 1 dive was all we need at Redang Reef, we also wanted to log that dive in case we’ll be heading to Mabul Water Village for the MMU Sipadan trip coming June. Every snorkeling trip with hubby’s colleague was like a scouts/guides activity – bcos most of his colleagues didn’t know how to swim & we were their water guide. The good thing coming out of it was that the 3 non-swimmers finally got enough guts to snorkel on their own (without assistance) *he ha ha he, they graduated alredi* during the final trip as most of us skipped that & was resting at the resort. Imga0531 Imga0489 Imga0498 As usual, the Redang sea creatures are so well-behaved & friendly i.e. the moray eels, black-tip sharks & trigger fishes didn’t even bat an eyelid to guard their territory as we snorkeled past them !

Anyways, it was a FANTASTIC trip despite coming back on Tuesday & having to ask for an anti-histamine jab from nearby clinic at KT…wat to do the sea creatures & mosquitos simply love me too much & gave me their ‘marks of affections’ i.e. got an allergy reaction & forgot to take my anti-histamines along for this trip. After the jab, felt so sleepy that couldn’t stand going to the market for shopping, and decided to NAP instead…ZZz zz Z Zz. Thank god after the nap, got upfeeling slightly refreshed & attacked a shop for bargain REDANG T-shirts at RM6 each – except for best fren’s “glow-in-dark T” which costed RM20 & definitely worth it. Other than shopping for T-shirt & sleeping (or taking many cold water bathes to cool self down) there wasn’t much to do at Kuala Terengganu…

Of course, after any trip…reality just sinks in : Back to office blues, peeling skins, looking like a lobster, itching skin (by the time this blog is posted-the allergies have gone off, thanks goodness!) Imga0522_2 Imga0535_1 ~SIGH~ is there such things as holidays forever?!?
